Thrifty vintage finds

This weekend I went to an auction that wasn't very well advertised.  The furniture which I am always looking for didn't go as cheaply as I would have liked, but I found lots of things that I found to be neat and good for my etsy shop!  Loved my finds this weekend!

All of these items can be found at my etsy shop here!  If you would like them for a lower price please feel free to message me!  I like to bargain! :)

Thrifty Finds

I am linking up for this week's thrifty finds, because having a new house and new baby, I am always on the hunt for some good deals.  I mainly look for deals on furniture pieces as I have quite a few empty rooms in this house.

I found these thrifty finds at an auction!  Usually my husband and I go to auctions together, but this one I randomly stopped at while he was home redoing some of my other thrifty finds.  I ended up buying quite a few large pieces and had to call him and have him come and bring the truck to haul my finds away! :)

So without further adoo....

This cabinet no one wanted and the auctioneer said anyone want to give $5 for it, and up went my number!

It was an ugly peach color, but large and sturdy!  My wonderful husband painted it white and it is now a display cabinet in our living room!  Where else could I find such a cool piece for $5?!

Right now we have the doors off on the top as it is used as a display cabinet.  Once we add some shelving to main wall, the doors will go back on.  It is a very large piece and fits in between the 2 windows perfectly!

At the same auction, I also got this dresser for 50 cents!  It was an ugly light oak color, and my husband re-painted it with Annie Sloan chalk paint.  Unfortunately, I don't have a before picture of this dresser because I thought it would sit in our garage or basement for awhile.  It now has all the hardware on it and looks great in baby's nursery.

I'll be back next month with some of my other thrifty finds!

Restoration Hardware Knockoff Crib

Along with then Restoration Hardware bookcase I'd been admiring, I was also falling in love with their Jameson crib, but again it was more than I wanted to spend.  So, Dad to the rescue! He and my brother built a very similar crib for MUCH less on a Sunday afternoon and my awesome hubby painted it in the same shade of the Annie Sloan chalk I paint!  The Restoration Hardware crib is in the top photos and mine is on the bottom!  I absolutely LOVE it!!!!

Restoration Hardware Knockoff

So I had been admiring this Restoration Hardware bookcase for quite sometime, but couldn't justify spending the insane amount for a bookcase.  I showed my dad the picture and he promised he could whip up that bookcase in no time at less than 1/3 of the price!  I trusted his skills completely and love mine even more than the RH one!  Sorry, I do not have step by step pictures because he literally completed it in a 2 hour time period on a Saturday afternoon!

Loving chalk paint

WE have been busy doing some projects around the house and going to auctions looking for furniture we can revamp.  This is out latest renovation.  An old buffet that we revamped using Annie Sloan chalk paint.  Such a transformation.  This piece is on sale on my etsy site as well if you are interested in purchasing.

After

This can be purchased here.  Check out some of the other vintage items I have for sale.  We are constantly finding fun finds at auctions.  This table and chairs will be our next revamp project.  Any ideas?  Leave them in the comments!

Kitchen Remodel

I'm back with yet another remodel post on the new house.  We purchased this house well aware that we would be doing numerous renovations to it.  The first and my main priority was the kitchen.  It had light oak cabinets, with light oak floors, ugly laminate counters, and was just plain FILTHY!  It was nothing that some paint and hard work couldn't fix, but there were also some things we wanted to do to spruce it up a bit.  It was probably the standard basic level kitchen that the contracotr who built the house offered, but we wanted to make it look a bit more custom.  I will explain everything we did throughout the pictures below.

This is the kitchen looking in from the living room.  The cooking area isn't the largest, but there is a nice dining nook area and plenty of counter space as well as cabinet space.  Notice the cabinet doors on this side of the cabinets!  YUCK!  Also, the drop down of the countertop.  Again, why? YUCK!
In the dining nook were also these rotted out doors that opened awkwardly right into the dining room, which would interfere with a table that was there.
Ugly kitchen counters with nasty sink and white appliances.  We had a vision and quickly got to work.  I will show you where we started tomorrow!
